Home at last
We actually spent two days on the road this time. Mainly due to the fact that I was still pretty sick, and because we took a detour to visit some friends in southern Illinois. But we finally got home Sunday afternoon. Yay! However, I am still sick. I actually feel really good, but my tonsillitis has spread to my other tonsil and I'm going to have to see the doctor on Wednesday. Why can't I just get better.....

New friends
Met a fellow dog owner with two Akitas! They were very sweet and my drawings don't do them justice (I'll have to practice drawing Akitas). The one on the left is Kaze, only 6 months old, 80 pounds and still growing. On the right is Kirei who is a gorgeous tan color while Kaze is mainly black. Both dogs would stand taller than me when on two legs, and Kaze is estimated to weigh more than me as well. It must be nice to have two giant, fluffy heat sources on cold Illinois nights.
On another topic, I am finally getting over my flu. My temperature was no higher than 100 today, and decreasing. About the only symptom I have left is a lot of muscle soreness and an occassional exhaustion/dizzy spell. I estimate that I will be well for Christmas morning. The only problem now is anticipating when Seth will come down with symptoms.
Really sick
We still drove to Illinois. Apparently, I really should've gone to the hospital, but once I got out of bed, out of my robe and got some food into my body, my temperature dropped to 102. It's actually a good thing we still left because the weather was infinitely more treacherous on Sunday, so at least that was a plus. My fever was still pretty darn high Saturday night, but I continued to take fever reducing medicine and kept myself only lightly covered in blankets. The worst seems to have passed now I'm just really sore. Let's just hope that I didn't cook my brain too much and that I don't make everybody else sick.

Sick
Well, I've finally given into whatever virus has been attacking me for the last couple of days. It's the weirdest thing, I don't have an stuffiness, but I have a terrible fever (101.8F) and a terrible headache. The last fever I had was after i got my wisdom teeth pulled in 2002! Anyway, I took some Day-Quil knockoff and my fever has gone down, but it makes me all loopy.

Exhausted puppy
Loki fared well at the kennel. When we came to pick her up, we saw her in one of the fields and she went crazy after seeing us. A "Thank God you're back" type response. It's nice to so visible see that your dog actually does remember and miss you when you're gone. Anyway, once she got home, she fell asleep.

Doggy Daycare
In order to board your dog at this kennel you need to bring the dog in for an evaluation day. So, today Loki got to go to doggy daycare. The dogs get to play in groups outside all day, and go for walks. This is the first time that we have ever left her alone with someone other than family or friends. She was excited when we arrived, but once Seth and I started exiting the door, she suddenly didn't feel so secure. I'm sure she'll be fine though.

Door to door salesman
He really made that joke and he really put the cleaning solution in his mouth. He also showed me the personal checks filled out by my neighbors for his product. Right after he introduced himself I politely told him I was not interested. But boy was he persistent, and continued to talk and demonstrate without taking a pause for me to butt in. I finally interrupted him and asked him again to leave. He then grabbed his stuff and stormed off. Nice attitude.

Guest strip on Smile!
I drew a guest strip for Raina Telgemeier's dental comic Smile. It's up today, you can view it here.

City of Ember
Loved the series. Apparently there is a movie version coming out next October, I'm already excited about it. Amulet just arrived in the mail today, very convenient as I just finished the third Ember book and am eager for something new. I'd have to say that I enjoyed the first book, The City of Ember, best. I even did a small drawing of one of my favorite scenes in the book, but I have yet to color it. I always feel so happy after reading a good book ^_^

Golden Compass
Tribute to the movie. I had read the books about 4 years ago and loved them, it was neat to see it in movie format. However, I didn't get to reread the first book before seeing the movie (that may be a good thing, or bad thing, I'm not sure). But, it still feels like the movie did a good job of representing the book. About the only criticism is that I felt the bond between daemon and human wasn't quite portrayed strongly enough and that the plot seemed a bit rushed. But otherwise I really enjoyed it!

Tea time
I purchased a new sampling of black and white teas that came in the mail on Monday. It's fun trying all the different types, I'm a big fan of teas from China. The unfortunate thing is that all black tea have caffeine (the decaf selection was not as varied in flavors) requiring me to limit myself to just a few cups a day. I don't drink caffeinated beverages and it seems that this makes me extremely reactive to caffeine. Whenever I drink more than three cups of tea I tend to never get sleepy. So, in an effort to avoid this, I am forced to limit my tea intake (only two cups in the morning). Fortunately i also purchased some rooibos which has no caffeine, so I can drink it at night.

Miscalculations
I didn't want to risk having extra cream and now I don't have enough for pie. Darn me for being so frugal.
On a side note, I finally updated my website. It has my 24 hour comic on it, and an old comic I did in college. Hopefully, I will become a diligent updater.

Avatar rules!!!!
I have to say that tonight's episode was my favorite (so far) this season. The idea of blood-bending is just too cool. It all makes sense, considering our bodies are made up of about 78% water. Look at Magneto and Wolverine. Wolverine's practically Magneto's puppet cause his entire skeletal system is coated with adamantium. I always thought that water bending was one of the most powerful forms of bending, after all they can even turn water into ice. But, the writers did try to limit the blood-bending ability a bit, making it only available during the full moon. Still, the show is just too good!
And, for those of you who may not be an avid Avatar fan, it is a series on Nickelodeon, now in it's third season. The drawing is of the evil character in tonight's episode. I thought she was a great villain, and just had to draw her.

Dental story
So Raina Telgemeier is accepting guest strips for her online comic Smile. Since I actually have a dental story, I decided to submit a one-page comic and she is going to display it on her site the second week of December! But, until then I'm going to have to keep the comic secret.

Enabling
I couldn't resist the temptation. I had wanted Glister by Andi Watson and Scott Pilgrim by Bryan Lee O'Malley for a while, and then drawn.ca mentioned the comic on their site and I had to get it.
I finished all my new comics....
I bought some new comics on Monday. Most were okay, but one (The Last Call by Vasilis Lolos) was amazing! Anyway, I've read through them all and now am in desperate need of some more.
