Asp caterpillar strikes again

Well, not entirely. But the sting marks on my hand have formed small welts that are itchy when I rub on them. I'd marvel at the caterpillar more, if it didn't irritate me so much.

Since I can't be in Illinois...

Post 24 hr comics day

Well, I managed to create a 24 page comic in 24 hours. It was quite an ordeal, and staying awake for 24 hours straight can cause some strange things to happen. Plus, the diet was terrible. We were provided with drinks and "munchies", but that was just soda and candy. We got pizza at around 6 pm, and all extra pizza provided sustenance throughout the night. That's some tasty 24 hr cold pizza. And top it all off with donuts in the morning. Thank goodness I brought some fruit and veggies with me, but they ran out by dinner on Saturday. The ordeal left me desperately hungry for some healthy, fresh food. It also left me feeling like I had aged 24 yrs. My back has never made so much noise. But it was a blast - and an incredibly satisfying endeavor.

Nervous

Tomorrow I am participating in 24 Hour Comics Day 2007. It's where you get together with a bunch of people and draw a complete, 24 page comic in 24 hours - straight! I am already exhausted just thinking about it. Plus, I'm very nervous that I won't complete a full 24 pages. I can only hope for the best.

Outdoor Texas is dangerous

So, as a warning to everyone, this is an Asp Caterpiller or Pus Moth Caterpillar (Megalopyge opercularis) - one of the most toxic caterpillars in North America. You can read about them here. You can read about people's encounters with them here. I only got a minor sting, but it hurt like a severe burn. And the pain is still there - it's been five hours since I was stung. Luckily, I only got a minor sting cause the caterpillar just sat in the palm of my hand. If I had stepped on one, or grabbed it, I probably would've needed a stronger pain killer. The other weird thing is I felt the venom in my lymph nodes - pain in the armpit. Needless to say, because of my previous encounters with stinging insects I became really worried that I might need to go the the hospital, but fortunately my throat didn't swell shut. The sting just really hurts, and the benadryl I took completely knocked me out. It's scary going outdoors in Texas.

More waiting

They were supposed to go into the shop and buy a car part, that was known to be available. I knew it would take a little longer than 5 minutes, but it was fairly nice outside and I didn't feel like standing awkwardly in the store. But, 10 minutes turned into 20, and then after about half an hour I stormed out of the vehicle to complain. I knew I should've brought a book with me today.....

Still looking...

Visiting some homes...

Looking for a new house

We are trying to find another house that is closer to everything. Mainly so that we can encourage our friends to visit us once and a while.

And, this happens to be my 100th post.
