My mom lived in Uruguay and Rio Grande do Sul in the extreme south of Brazil for the first 20+ years of her life, so she's a mate drinker. I need to try it some time.
You should definitely try it! I think I had heard about it before, but never seen it until I entered that coffee shop. It tasted remarkably similar to tea, though not the same. I only wish it was naturally decaffeinated.
