It is annoying, and there really isn't any good, polite response to it. The other one I get a lot is in response to "Would you like a bag?" They answer "No thanks, save a plastic tree."
Exactly there really is not a polite response. I just chuckle, well actually nervously laugh, and say no sorry. I get the plastic tree joke too all the time. They all think they are so funny. By the way i love how you have comics that I can relate to, i really love knowing im not the only one that thinks about this stuff.
I get the same question daily. I work as a Cashier and people think its just so funny. It can get annoying.
