Another bite

I am seriously concerned about what will happen if I get bitten by more than one ant.

Darn fire ants

I have grown increasingly more reactive to fire ant bites. My first year in Texas meant my first encounter with the beasts, I was bit by multiple ants on my foot. They stung briefly and then itched for a couple of days. The bite marks, however, lasted two weeks. I continued to be bitten at random other occasions on my hands, feet etc. with similar results. But just about two months ago, I had a major reaction to a single bite. My ankle swelled like crazy, and the bite itched horribly for a good week. Then, just yesterday I was bit again. This time, it swelled instantly and I began itching on my wrist and palms, and in my ears (?!). It was incredibly weird, and annoying so I decided to take Benadryl. Well, I passed out instantly, and this morning there is no itching or redness anywhere other than at the bite. It is, however, still very swollen and sore. I sense that if I get a multiple attack, I will need to seek actual help in the future. Stupid insects.

The hours go by so fast....

Watched a scary movie

Actually, I'm really never phased by scary movies. My husband doesn't like them, so I am always forced to watch them when he isn't around (and tonight happened to be a very stormy night). So, since I received "Shutter" in the mail (a Thai movie), and Seth was going to be at work late, this was the perfect opportunity to watch a scary movie. Normally I find horror movies to be very boring and bland - due to poor writing, cheesy acting, and overdone gore. I used to enjoy the gore factor when I was a kid, when they still had a lot of neat movie magic behind the scenes instead of just a computer. Then, with the whole advent of Asian horror in the theaters some new, interesting imagery came into film. But, along with Asian cinema comes the nonsensical story. Seriously, so few Asian horror movies have any real plot, just scene after scene after scene all ending in some horrible end-of-the-world type scenario. "Shutter", however, actually had a well thought out plot and some good creepy moments. Definitely one of the best Asian horror movies I've seen.

Sorry, but....

My mom returned to Chicago yesterday evening, and all I accomplished today was a plushie I needed to make for a swap. Other than sewing, not much else happened. I cooked lunch, worked out, and read some more Harry Potter (I've been reading through the entire series in order, and am now in book 5). Other than an incredibly frustrating bout with the DVD player, in which my DVD would not play properly, the day was quite uneventful. And my DVD experience was too frustrating to even attempt to put to paper. So, not much of a comic today, sorry.

A magical letter

Nadine, if you are reading this, don't take offense - I loved the letter! I just happened to open it all over my couch, hehe.

I've only recently gotten involved in swaps (something us crazy crafters like to do). This is the second swap I received, and I have to say that it is my favorite so far. It was Harry Potter themed letter swap, and it's just great to get to meet fellow fans. Despite the huge craze that Harry Potter is, I actually don't know too many people who read the books - or watch the movies. Shame on them. It's really just me, my husband and my dad (although, I am the crazed fan who started them on the series ^_^).

Anyway....really great letter Nadine!

Sick pup

Loki woke us up early this morning, just in time to vomit in the kitchen. She seemed to have a bit of a stomach upset, but is doing much better now. Glad Seth woke up first, hehe.

No work is great!

This was my day, but this blissful relaxation will not last for long. I am going to be "working" everyday to get myself some freelance. So, I am trying to get through the entire Harry Potter series before I have to really buckle down (I'm kinda on an HP high lately, and can't wait to reread the final book, but I'm making myself read the entire series straight through first).

Last day at work

Work was too horrible to explain. If I hadn't already quit, I would've walked out today. But, as it was my last day I left after lunch (the first hours of the day were too excruciating to repeat). Loki was surprised to see me home so early, but excited as well.

So glad I'm done with this job. Now, if only I can finally get some freelance work....
